Hydrophonic Resonance City of Melbourne, Test Sites Program 2023
Hydrophonic Resonance (Babble) is an interactive installation work in a testing phase, which seeks to create a moment of intimate encounter with waterways — specifically the Birrarung.
Utilising a hydrophone placed into the river, and a rewired Telecom phone, this work creates the framework for a private. Given the complex ecological and industrial histories, presents and futures of Docklands, the harbour and the Yarra, this work encourages considerations of the ways in which time, ecology, industry and place cohere and unfurl in the movements of tides, sediments, aquatic flora and fauna.
